地域の綺麗な湧き水を、地域住民は生水（しょうず）と呼び、昔から大切に利用してきました。集落の中を巡る水路やその水を生活用水に利用したシステムを“かばた”（川端）と呼ばれており、このような水の文化、美しい景色、地域の人との触れあいなどを求めて今では日本中、海外よりたくさんの人が見学に見えるようになりました。2008年には「平成の名水百選」にも選定されました。

こんこんと湧き出る澄んだ水。集落の中を巡る水路やその水を生活用水に利用したシステムを"かばた"（川端）と呼んでいます。 "Harie Shouzu-no-sato" -Harie & Shimofuri Waterside Sightseeing. All across these areas you can see underground water from the Adogawa River and the Hira mountains bubbling up as fresh springs. Observe a village where an eco-friendly water circulation system is an intimate part of everyday life, including still using "kabata" pools to obtain water for drinking and everyday use.
