If you want to check out more of the local life, I would recomend visiting the neighbourhood Møhlenpris. Møhlenpris can be considered both as the most intercultural and the most cultural homogenous part of the city. People from many parts of the world are living here, and both economically poor people, and richer and well-educated ones. Politically, most of them are left-wing, and care about culture and art.
The buildings at Møhlenpris are brick buildings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and between them you'll find children playing in the streets, young adults playing ping pong, and vibrant cafees/bars.
Cafees and bars to go to are Bergen Kaffebrenneri, serving good pizzas, Nobel Bopel (considered as the most popular café/bar in town, from the point of view of the cultural right-wing people), Nobel Bopel Cornerteateret, and, if you fancy a student-run club in an old air raid shelter mostly playing rock and hard-rock: Hulen is your place.
