Food Scene
Unfortunately, the COVID pandemic and Cayman's subsequent imposed tourism limits have had a huge impact on local restaurants, especially in the Rum Point area. Things seem to change on a regular basis, so we encourage you to check who is currently open, their hours, and whether reservations are required.
Here are our favourites, some require a half hour drive (but well worth it).
A very short drive (or longer walk) from Starboard Kai. Choice of beachside casual dining or fine dining in their "Upstairs Restaurant". Once a week they offer a Caribbean BBQ with music and dancing.

Our favourite restaurant featuring Australian-Caribbean fusion in a great ocean side setting. Located in the East End about a half hour drive along the north coast. Great brunch, lunch and dinner.

Lovely evening dining as well as a terrific bar located adjacent to the Rum Point pier. This very good restaurant is a short stroll from our home, Starboard Kai. Great seafood/fish and selection of rums and signature cocktails.

A lovely (but busy) beach. Pack some cold drinks and your towels and head there for the day. Remember sunscreen as it can be hard to find shade. The Royal Palms offers free lounge chairs and a pool (they have washrooms, showers, restaurants and bar). It can be busy so pick a day when fewer cruise ships are in port. Shop in Georgetown on the same trip.

Most tours include a stop at the coral reef for snorkeling. A must do while in Grand Cayman. Go early on a low cruise ship day to avoid the crowds.

Essentials
This is about a 30-40 minute drive from Rum Point so stalk up on your way from the airport or town. There are closer grocery stores but they have a limited selection. The same plaza also has a bank, liquor store, pharmacy (with a very helpful pharmacist) and hardware store.

Getting Around
Most of the car rental companies have a location at Owen Roberts Airport. Andy's is a good local company. They will offer you a discount if you mention you are staying at Starboard Kai (Island House #4).
