On the corner of Calle 3 and Ave. 5. Lots of restaurants in the area (Del Sur is across the street) so this is a good area to go to if you are hungry. I normally don't like stuffed peppers but the one they make is wonderful! Also have sandwiches and a lot of variety. Most seating it outside but most is under cover, but there is a small area inside for seating.

I've loved this restaurant from the time it opened years ago. They have kept the quality high and the food delicious. They started with a very small space and expanded over the years and now have both indoor and outdoor dining. The garden at night is wonderful. Only open in the evening.

Wonderful empanadas, great chicken and steaks. The restaurant started in another location selling only empanadas and was so popular he had to get a larger place and he expanded his menu. Empanadas are still my favorite.

Everyone I've taken there has loved it. Very local, very welcoming, great food at reasonable prices and I love the margaritas. They have some of the best mole sauce over chicken, I love the chicken burritos, the conch is wonderful and so are the fish selections - fish in garlic and butter is one of the favorites. This is a visit that you should plan to spend several hours. At the south end of the island it takes a while to get there since the roads after you turn off the highway are sometimes a bit rough. There is a lighthouse here, and during the season that the giant turtles lay their eggs, you can arrange to go on a tour and hopefully witness it yourself.

A museum and an art gallery, plus on the second floor there is a very good restaurant, known mostly for their great breakfasts. While you are at the museum, ask about the ruins at San Gervasio - the only Mayan ruins on the island.

Los Cinco Soles, (they translated the name to English on this website) is on the main oceanfront street, a few blocks north of the main square has clothing, jewelry, souvenirs, home decorating items, T-shirts, liquor and more. I love their comfortable cotton clothing and for gifts, their unique jewelry is wonderful and not expensive. Their silver jewelry is quite good too. I've shopped here for over 20 years and I've never been disappointed with any purchases.

Large grocery store right next to Sam's Club. Usually busy, the prices are pretty good. I don't go on Sundays as lots of people have that day off from work and do their shopping then. The lines to check out can be long then.

Getting Around
No car repair here, but Rentatora Isis is a local rental company with a very good reputation. My family rents from then when they visit. Cars may not be quite as shiny and new as those from other rental locations, but the prices are very fair and Isis is dependable and if you have a problem will repair or replace the vehicle.
