Restaurants: - Mai Thaiku: Our favorite Thai restaurant anywhere in Seattle is located just a few blocks away! Their pahd thai is actually pretty good, but if you are an adventurous eater, try the satay pork skewers, sai oua (northern Thai pork sausage), yum tua fahk yow, ba me hang, or gaeng pah gai! We love trying a new dish whenever we visit. - Red Mill Burgers: Also just a few blocks away -- sometimes you just want a good burger and a shake. Or some onion rings. Or some battered and fried mushrooms. Look no further! My personal favorite burger is the Verde Burger. - Valhalla Sandwiches: Want a messy, delicious sandwich? Try this joint. - The Yard: Especially fun at happy hour, you can get a drink and your taco fix here! They have delicious chips and salsa and their guacamole ain't bad either. Pizza. It's a personal favorite of mine. We have lots of good options here. - Windy City Pie: Chicago deep dish! The "Omnivore" is a good choice. I'm curious to try it without the caramelized onions to see what it's like just a little less sweet. - Zeeks: A Seattle establishment. My favorite pizza is the "Treehugger" with added Italian sausage. They have lots of local brews to try. - The Ridge: Their crust is so delightfully crunchy but chewy! It's like an adult take on Pizza Hut. - Cornuto Pizzeria: Do you like woodfired, authentic pizza? YUM. Cafes and Bakeries - Fresh Flours Cafe: We are so lucky to live within a 10 minute walk of this gem. Get your latte (or other espresso drink) and a wonderful pastry here. They also offer green tea and golden milk lattes. My favorite pastries are the pithivier, the caramelized onion and swiss croissant, the basque cake, and their green tea and red bean muffin. But that chocolate almond croissant is pretty great too! - Celine Patisserie: Another wonderful place to get coffee and a pastry! My French friend's favorite bakery. - Coyle's Bakeshop: If you love pastries and baked goods, please don't miss this shop! Open from 7 am - 4 pm most days, they have the most wonderful cream scone you will ever have. You are also lucky if they have a carrot cake slice. It's our favorite place to "run" to for exercise! Not quite on our ridge but worth a mention: - Slate coffee: A 10 minute walk towards Ballard, try the deconstructed latte for an elevated coffee experience. They roast their own coffee. If you like lighter roasts, give them a try. - Lighthouse roasters: a 20 minute walk towards Fremont. Wonderful, experienced baristas turn a nice latte. If you like roasty and dark beans, you can purchase beans here as a souvenir.
