“Located at the Arizona-Nevada state line between Kingman and Las Vegas, Hoover Dam is 76 miles from our Bungalow at Grand Canyon West. The dam is a testimony to a country's ability to construct monolithic projects in the midst of adverse conditions. Built during the Depression; thousands of men and their families came to Black Canyon to tame the Colorado River. It took less than five years, in a harsh and barren land, to build the largest dam of its time. Now, years later, Hoover Dam still stands as a world-renowned structure. The Dam is a National Historic Landmark and has been rated by the American Society of Civil Engineers as one of America's Seven Modern Civil Engineering Wonders. Tours available on site. ”

“"Taliesin West is a UNESCO World Heritage site and National Historic Landmark nestled in the desert foothills of the McDowell Mountains in Scottsdale, AZ. It is also the home of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation and the School of Architecture at Taliesin. Wright’s beloved winter home and the bustling headquarters of the Taliesin Fellowship, was established in 1937 and diligently handcrafted over many years into a world unto itself. Deeply connected to the desert from which it was forged, Taliesin West possesses an almost prehistoric grandeur. It was built and maintained almost entirely by Wright and his apprentices, making it among the most personal of the architect’s creations." ”

“A very important source of water for our area with a long, interesting history. People have been living there for centuries & there are some well preserved cliff dwellings there. Fed by a natural spring, it always has the same amount of water no matter how much rain fall. It then feeds into our lovely Beaver Creek which supports precious riparian areas. If you stay to the right going in, you can walk down to the creek & see some interesting irrigation ditches.”
