Shopping Mall
“While a trip to the mall is enough to make me cringe if I'm not in the right mindset, my 12-year old daughter LOVES Riccarton Mall. In fact, she's planning a city escape with her besties for her next birthday and top of the list is shopping right here! Packed with plenty of high street stores, don't expect to find something unique, but if it's a shopping fix you're after, this is your one-stop (big) shop.”

Hobbywinkel
“New Zealand’s largest collection of Category 1 heritage buildings. Once the University of Canterbury, the Arts Centre is now a place to eat, drink, and visit galleries. The Centre was significantly damaged in the 2010/11 earthquakes but its rebuild is now past the halfway point. There’s a Rollickin’ Gelato outlet there and also Lumiere, an amazing boutique cinema with a lovely cocktail bar. Sir Ernest Rutherford (the man who first split the atom) went to university there, and one of the Centre’s many attractions include a visit to his ‘den’ – a must-do for science/physics/astronomy fans. ”
