Bagel Shop
“An absolute local's favorite. The line is usually pretty long but it goes by quickly and it's cheap...but SO good!”

“The back bar at Tavola (accessed via an alley way to the left of the entrance) is a true Cville gem. Tasty food items are available and cheaper than the dine-in menu. Cocktails are A+++. ”

Grocery or Supermarket
“I love this little grocery store. It's not cheap, but you can walk there with your reusable bags and feel like you're doing the right thing and still get pretty much anything you need to make a fresh, delicious meal. Good brands, fresh everything. ”

Cafe
“OKAY, some of my friends roll their eyes when I bring up La Taza, but I can't get enough of their breakfast tacos and breakfast potatoes. If you're here on the weekend and are willing to wait a little while (because they are usually busy), it's worth the wait. If you're lucky and you are here during the week, you'll have no problem getting a table or placing a take-out order! If you want to enjoy a nice cold drink around a fire conversing with locals, check our the Tikki Bar at La Taza. It's an outside bar with a tropical theme and relaxed atmosphere in the heart of Belmont.”

Shopping Mall
“A visit to Charlottesville isn't complete without a stop at the Downtown Mall, one of the most beautiful and successful pedestrian malls in the nation. Ours contains a vibrant collection of more than 120 shops and 30 restaurants (many with outdoor cafés) housed in the historic buildings on and around old Main Street. Ice skate, enjoy a movie or play, or simply relax under magnificent oak trees along the red-bricked mall. Convenient parking in nearby garages makes a visit easy for guests of all ages.”

Shopping Mall
“The downtown pedestrian mall is the center of Charlottesville’s social and cultural life (unless you’re an undergrad- then it’s the university and the Corner!). A brick-lined street closed off to traffic, the downtown mall has a ton of great restaurants, boutiques, and history. On a nice day go down there to stroll and people watch. In the evenings, particularly in the spring, summer, and fall, expect a busy and celebratory atmosphere, with a buzzing restaurant scene and active music scene. There are five music venues on the downtown mall (The Southern, the Jefferson, the Paramount, the Pavilion, and Miller’s) so be sure to check out the offerings. In the spring, summer, and early fall there’s also a free outdoor concert every Friday starting at 5 pm. (Fridays After Five). ”
