Historic Site
“A must visit whilst in the area. Walk the narrow medieval streets and ramparts. Enjoy a meal at one of the many restaurants in the square. ”

Kasteel
“One of my favourite activities is to sit in one of the squares that open up from the narrow cobble streets around the chateau. As I drink my early morning coffee I let my imagination run with Alis and Sandrine , characters created by Kate Mosse, and enjoy 'living" in the past for 30 minutes or so. Other than that, it is an amazing place to visit, but go early morning to avoid the crowds or as dusk falls to see it floodlit. ”

Kasteel
“This is one of the closest 'Cathar Castles' near us and is the sight of one of the most famous sieges during the persecution and crusades again the religious sects. There's lot's of parking and the climb, while steep is worth it for both the views and the ruin itself. There is a small entrance fee to get into the site but it also allows you in to the museum in the village below where you get a really good understanding of how so many people both lived and survived on the site during the siege. There are also some nice places to eat and relax in the village, after visiting the ruin.”

Market
“The undercover food market in Narbonne is a standout food market in France. Bursting with regional produce, you can find the best selection of cheeses, olives, vegetables and of course every kind of meat. There are wonderful restaurants in Les Halles so you can have lunch there and then head home with you basket jammed with dinner ingredients. An absolute must see”

Natural Feature
“This is our favourite lake for swimming and picnics. The setting is beautiful at any time of the year. In the Summer we go to swim, although it is possible to hire a pedalo or kayak. There are some lovely picnic spots around the lake and plenty of free parking. There is a path around the lake for walkers or cyclists. There are bars and restaurants on the edge of the lake and we can recommend places to eat or for a drink.”

City
“The closest beach to Maisonnarbonne - we don’t care for Narbonne plage but Gruissan is fine for a day but check to see if it is windy and do not go if it is! Big wide long sandy beach. Eat at Paparazzo or stay at Lea Cabine with sun loungers and good food ”

“Le Petit Pierre is run by chef Pierre Augé, winner of the French edition of Top Chef in 2014. Named after his father, he soon enough was known as “Petit Pierre” to avoid confusion. Hence the name of the restaurant was born: La Maison de Petit Pierre. Here you can enjoy a bistronomique lunch or dinner.”
