Great views from this cutely decorated guest house below our vacation home. Enjoy the fire in the woodburning stove or enjoy just hanging out on the deck watching the sunsets. The open land behind our home is great for hiking in the summer and snow sledding in the winter. We're located halfway between Big Bear Lake & Lake Arrowhead which is the perfect location.
"Live well, Laugh often, and Love with all your Heart" that is the motto of our guest house. We are halfway between Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear Lake. On your way here you'll also cross over the bridge of our own seasonal lake The lake is full most months but dries up in the summer and doesn't come back until we get enough rain and snow. The guest home is within walking distance to our seasonal lake.
Our home is a beautiful log home and is at the end of a street so we have open land behind our house for snowplay in the winter and hiking in the summer. Though you are in a neighborhood , there is a feeling of seclusion because of the open land around our place, not to mention that it makes for great views.
There is one parking space for the guest house. In the winter when there is snow on the ground it is the guests responsibility to pay for snow plowing. If you wish, we are happy to set up a company to come out and plow a place for you to park. We charge you only what the company charges us to plow.
When you arrive at the guest home you will go down a set of concrete steps and then across the main house deck to another set of wooden steps down to the guest house . The guest house is below the main house. In the winter and on holidays there will be guests in the main house above you. Because the guest house is below our vacation home there can be some noise if there are guests staying above. Some guests state that they can hear the footsteps from above.
There is a queen size bed in the bedroom and a queen size sofa bed in the living room. The kitchen is stocked with dishes, pots & pans and utensils. All you need to bring is your food and toiletries. (and clothes of course) There is cable TV in the living room and there are books, games and puzzles and some DVD's to look through if you feel inclined. There is a wood burning stove in the living room so be sure to bring wood to burn if you plan on using it (make sure the flue is open) for those cold nights but we also have forced air heating. We try to leave you a basket of firewood if we can. We have a shower (sorry, no tub) in the bathroom.
We are dog friendly so your well behaved dog is welcome. Just please don't leave your dog alone in the guest house. Some dogs do not do well when left alone in an unfamiliar place. (We have had problems in the past)
There is a $25 fee if you want to bring your dog. You will leave it on the coffee table when you vacate. There is a 1 dog limit unless cleared with the owner.
The guest house deck has adirondack chairs to take in the view as well as a fun porch swing. Did I mention the great view? Oh I guess I did but it's worth mentioning again. Wait till you see the sunsets! And on a clear night, you need to take a look at all the stars. Who knew there were so many. It's amazing!!!

You will have access to all of the 1 bedroom guest home below our vacation home. There is no inside access to the guest home from the main home and you will have your own front door with it's own distinct key. There is a set of concrete steps down to the main house deck and then a set of wooden steps which take you down to the guest home and deck. You will be walking across our vacation home deck to get to the guest house and if there are guests in our vacation home , they may walk across your deck to get to the backyard area. It all works out.

Andere dingen waar je op moet letten
There is a 2 night minimum. There are occasionally times when there will be guests in the vacation home above. This is usually in the winter months or on holidays. Please be aware that there can be some noise from the main home above if we have guests who are staying there. Some guests state that they can hear the footsteps from above. The guest home is completely separate as far as being able to enter and has its own deck with outdoor furniture. There is one parking space for you and it is right in front of the home. If you are in need of more parking space be sure to let us know. There are concrete steps down to the main home and then another set of wooden steps down to the guest house. Because of that, it feels very private and has that great view that I keep talking about. If you plan to bring your dog, there is a $25 fee that you leave on the coffee table when you leave. There is a 1 dog limit unless you have cleared it with the owner. If you are bringing your 4 legged friend, please read my rules for bringing your pet. No animals on the furniture or the bed. If your dog is used to sleeping on your bed , you must bring something for them to sleep on. We love animals but must protect our investment.
Please treat our home as if it were your own. Enjoy yourselves but be respectful to our home and anyone who occasionally might be staying in the main house for the same weekend. (Main house guests are mostly in the winter or on holidays) The guest house is below the main house and when there are guests above there is some noise that you can hear. By booking you are agreeing that this will not be a problem.
No more than 4 people may stay at this guest house. Please no extra people unless it has been cleared with the owner.
We have a STRICT "no smoking" policy. (My husband is allergic)
You may bring your well behaved dog but please do not leave your dog unsupervised in the guest home while you go somewhere. (We have had problems before) Some animals do not do well when left alone in an unfamiliar place. We allow 1 dog only. No cats--my husband is also allergic to cats. Please do not let your 4 legged friend on the furniture or beds. We love animals but must protect our investment. If your dog is used to sleeping on your bed, please bring something for them to lay on. There is a $25 extra fee if you plan to bring your dog. Please leave it on the coffee table in the living room when you vacate.
You must turn the water on to the house when you arrive and turn the water off and drain the pipes and close them again when you vacate. The directions are on the refrigerator door. This insures that the pipes don't freeze in the winter. VERY IMPORTANT!!
Please wash your dishes and put them away after use. If you are frying something for dinner, please take care that the grease is kept under control and clean up any grease that might escape the pan.
When putting out trash, please make sure that it is in a plastic trash bag that is tied before you put it in the trash can and that the lid is securely on the trash can. You are in the mountains and there are bear, coyote and other wild animals that are attracted to strong smells. You don't want them attracted to the place that you are staying.
In rainy or snowy conditions, please take your shoes off at the front door and put them in the plastic shoe holder either inside or outside the door. This insures that the place continues to look nice for everyone.
If it has snowed during the week before you arrive, you will have to have a company come out and plow a place for you to park. We do not live in the mountains so we can't plow it for you. We can give you the names and phone numbers of companies that plow snow in the winter or if you prefer we can assist you and call a company for you to plow the snow. You need to call the company for the cost.
Last but not least, have a great time!!!
