Welcome to our 1922 Craftsman. From the master bedroom wake to views of the ship canal with the rowers of The University of WA cross the way, Picturesque Portage Bay, The Montlake Bridge, & Cascade Mountains beyond. Frequently Eagles, Falcons, & Herons soar overhead. We have water views from all 3 decks. Our house is beautifully decorated with museum quality fine art. Features fireplace, air conditioning, a swing in the front yard, free off street parking, BBQ area and more!!!
No children allowed unless by special arrangement or made agreement through pre-approval. We are open to it, but want to have a conversation first before considering.
As with any older home there are many oddities. It’s not perfect, but we find it perfectly imperfect, and hope you enjoy its history and character.
Important to know:
-We will provide you with house keys. When you have finished your stay upon checkout you can lock the front door behind you and drop the keys through the mail slot in the front door.
-All doors must be secured and locked upon leaving and retiring at night.
-Please keep gatherings to small dinner parties. Anything larger requires pre-approval.
-Please use outside spaces for smoking (no smoking allowed inside), and cleanup after.
-Keep noise to moderate levels.
-Please be mindful of our books and belongings. When done with your stay please return them as you found them.
-There are a lot of antiques, artwork and “curious old things” in our house. Please be mindful to ensure that nothing gets broken.
-Access to the Photographic studios is prohibited without prior approval as is the storage area past the laundry room.
-Please use coasters.
-Treat art and furniture with respect.
-Please do not rearrange furniture and decor without prior consent.
-Please turn off lights and air conditioning when not needed.
-Turn off oven and all other appliances when not in use.
-There are smoke and heat detectors on all floors. The main level smoke/heat detector is easily triggered by steam from the bathroom, so the door should be closed while showering/bathing and remain closed until the steam dissipates.
-There is a fire extinguishers under the sink in the kitchen.
-Our neighborhood is safe, but please remember to lock all doors when sleeping or leaving.
-There is a work studio and apartment below the house, which we frequently live when we are hosting. We are close so feel free to call if there is a problem and we will run up to help.
-Please turn off the AC when the house is cool or if it’s not hot outside so save energy. Our old house can be expensive to cool for long time periods.
-The city of Seattle requires that we separate recycling, compost and garbage. There are three bags for this under the sink. The bins are located in the driveway: Green for compost, Blue for recycling and brown for garbage. Please take them out nightly to avoid ants (which all Seattle houses have).
-There is a switch for the garbage disposal on the right of the sink. Please run the cold water when the disposal is on.
-Sometimes the dryer is slow… we apologize for any inconvenience.
-There are workers who come weekly to care for the yard, and nightly to water the grass.
-If we are in town you may see us in the yard periodically watering the grass and the plants on the porch. We want to respect the privacy of our guests so please let us know if there are inconvenient times for this.
