Acorn house has now been transormed into 8 apartments, 5 of which are 2 bedroomed and 3 are 1 bedroomed. Secure parking at the rear of the property.
The property is situated on Norton is a 10 minute walk and has every shop, restaurant and bar u need

The house provided by Duncan has a nice location and it's close to the shopping centre and the student apartment of Durham although the bathroom downstairs is not really good as water takes a long time to go down. Duncan has been a kind host who answers to our questions with fast and patient reply. I would like to recommend people to stay.
This feedback is re the house in Maddren Way (NOT Acorn house) PROS 1. Large house - 3 large bedrooms (each for 2 people), and 2 small bedrooms (each for 1 person), large living room. Very comfortable. My family loves it. Very nice neighbourhood. 2. Amenities way better than advertised - if you check on the website- none stated (at the time of booking), as I believe this is Duncan's new house. But when I arrived, there were TV(not a flat screen), internet (TalkTalk), washing machine, microwave etc.He left written instruction on how to operate the TV and internet. 3. Thanks to Duncan for accepting my sort of last minute booking- initially for a house a bit further from Middlesbrough (where I live), then Duncan offered this house which is in Middlesbrough so my family can be closer to my place, with the SAME PRICE (originally this place costs more)! 4. Extremely easy check in- Duncan just sent me an email about the lock box's combination number for the house key. CONS 1. Dining area's lighting not working, I emailed Duncan but no response. We have been using living room's light (living room sort of next to/ combined with the dining area). 2. Central heating+ hot water auto off after an hour or 2 hours, need manual reset now and again. House and water get warm easily. I did not report this to Duncan as no reply from lighting report. CONCLUSION With above into consideration, I do not mind staying at Duncan's place again (particularly this one). I am sure he was busy not able to answer my email, and I am sure he will get those problem fixed. The fact that he let my family stay with last minute (few days) notice and lower price quote, I cannot thank him enough. My family had a wonderful time visiting north part of England while staying at his place. Thank you!
I booked Acorn house for myself and a colleague. initial impression were great, Everything was clean and modern. We had an issue with the flat though. The flat we booked was advertised as having two beds. Upon arrival the room only had one bed, but two bedrooms. As it was myself and a colleague this was fairly embarrassing. I immediately called Duncan - no answer so I left a voice mail. There was no response. Because there was only one bed in the flat we had to seek alternative accommodation for the night. Not great. The next day I sent Duncan a message through airbnb explaining what the situation was. Again I had no response. Upon returning to the flat for the second night a bed had been placed into the second bedroom? I'm unsure when the bed was put in the flat as we'd already gone an found alternative accommodation on the first night! We stayed the second night and the flat was spot on.
