Just returned from our family holiday staying in Thierry's beautiful, family home. The house and garden space is amazing - the pool such a fantastic bonus, plus the large trampoline. The house has a definite 'lived in' feel, which we embraced and relaxed into very quickly.
Being so close to the town centre - a 5 minute walk - made everyday shopping easy, including the 8.00am trip for croissants, etc. The large Spar supermarket is well stocked with everything you'd need and has good opening times in the summer months.
We mainly used the closest beach, La Plage du Portez. It takes minutes to walk down there from the house - no steps, so easy for every age group. (A bit of a steeper trek back up the slope). We couldn't believe how quiet all of the beaches were, as they are brilliant. Going down to watch the sunsets was something special.
Le Conquet is a fantastic, little, friendly town. The Sunday and Tuesday markets are filled with Breton produce. The harbour lets you watch the fishermen at work and the shops sell many, affordable souvenirs.
We went dolphin watching - very enjoyable.
We went into Brest to visit the castle - lots of military history, lots of steps. We seemed to gauge the restaurant/shop opening times wrong and spent too much time wandering around. Another time, we would drive out to Oceanopolis.
Thierry was the perfect host and communicated well.
At the end of the 10 days, we really didn't want to leave.
