Guanajuato, Mexico

CasaTerraza Neighborhood

Parking is available at the nearby public parking lots. There is a paid public parking lot at the far end of the train station. It is about 12 pesos per hour for cars, and it is an open aire parking lot.

Coming down the steps on Saturday and Sunday morning is a soup and taco food vendor that sets up between 8 AM and 2 PM. They serve the traditional consume soup for breakfast. The vendor on the traffic island makes fresh tacos. You may hear them during the middle of the night chopping the meat. Many other vendors set up in the evening. It is a nonstop street food scene.

The closest bank machine is at the bottom of the Paseo Ashland hill. About 400 Meters. If you walk along the old train station the road will start to go downhill where the large parking lot with buses are. At the bottom of the hill, turn right and there is a small shopping center on your right. The Caja Populare is in that mall. The machine is able to disperse 15,000 pesos which is more than many other banks in town. Otherwise walk towards the Centro and there are many banks at Plaza de La Paz.

Garbage collection in our neighborhood is communal. It is recommended you take your food garbage out daily due to the heat. There are two bins. One up the hill on Carrizo just beside the muffler repair shop and the other on Tepetapa. They are emptied twice a day as they serve many families.

There is a torta and quesadilla vendor by the train station side of the Glorieta. They cook their meat over Mesquite and you can see the smoke billowing. Barbecue pork and chorizo in a bun is called a. Campechana. This costs about 35 pesos and is enough for a meal. You put your own fixings on it or have it to go and they will do it for you.

Down the hill from the Glorieta on the bed topper is an Oxxo store. There you can top up your cell phone and buy your milk. At the Carrizo corner of the Glorieta is an Internet café and copy shop. You can take your memory stick and they will print off what you need. They also sell stationery supplies and have a washroom for 5 pesos.

Around the corner from the Internet café, three doors down you will find a tortilla maker who opens at 7 AM. Freshly made, you can buy as few as two tortillas for one peso.

At the corner of Carrizo and Casa Terraza’s callejon, there is a fruit and vegetable Vendor their stock is very fresh as a do a brisk business. We find the produce better than the large stores.
