A recent conversion of a soap making barn into a lovely 2 bed/bath (both ensuite) bungalow with amazing light & repurposed antique doors & windows. Opp. Silole Sanctuary, 5 min walk from Anselm's Kitengela Hot Glass, the eponymous Kenyan recycled glass blowers.

With twittering birdlife, fire for Nairobi nights, wifi, electric fence, backup inverter & generator, big veranda perfect for BBQ, borehole water, mature garden & trees.

In the Nbi metro area, 45 min from Karen/Nairobi centers.

De ruimte
With a high roof and a large verandah, air scrubbed clean over hundreds of kilometers of the Kitengela plains this privately owned family friendly space lets you step outside the rat race. Lamu floors and white terrazzo bathrooms with sublime sunlight streaming through the antique windows creating light painting on the walls and floors.

Take a deep breath.

Listen to lion and hyena calling at night. Zebra chattering. Allow the serenity of the adjacent Nairobi National Park and Silole Sanctuary to permeate your being.

Close proximity to & the possibility of strolling down to visit one of the quirkiest art glass studios on the planet (Anselm's Kitengela Hot Glass) makes this homestay super special. Their café serves superlative homemade icecream and fine coffee - watch as the glassblowers ply their craft under a glittering planetarium dome.

Or, stay at your new home, hang out on the verandah (with a view of Silole Sanctuary backdropped by Nairobi), have a barbecue or koroga to while away the afternoon or nap on the comfy furniture to the sound of the cicadas and quiet buzz of rural tranquility.

Perhaps venture out of the secret gate to the edge of the gorge - full of unspoiled rocky nooks & crannies for contemplative picnics or explorative bush walks through another world that belies the city sitting on the horizon

In the evenings gather round the fire after eating another meal - this time prepped in the spacious kitchen area (with exquisite mvuli topped breakfast island) well appointed with all the necessities (gas stove, microwave, kettle, toaster, pots, pans, cutlery, crockery, glasses, mugs, oil & condiments) to reheat your takeaway or cook from scratch. We do not have a resident chef but there are plenty of lovely take away deliver options availabe. There’s a fridge that should be ample for your food storage needs.

The borehole water is tested and safe to drink - perfectly potable, and no microplastics.

Toegang voor gasten
Guests have their own acre to hang out on. In our place (next door) we have a fully fitted gym. Welcome to break a sweat or work off some of the previous day's barbecue. I usually open the door at 6.30am and close at 5pm.

Opposite the veranda there is a secret pedestrian gate that opens on to our gorge wonderland, a rocky haven for bushlife and perfect for a peaceful picnic - you won't believe that you are 40 mins from a major metropolitan centre.

Outside the main gate to the left (just after the stone wall) there is a small wetlands we have created to attract birds and other fauna. It is on our property, so feel free to check it out, maybe on the way down to the glass studio on your afternoon amble.

If you need a taxi for airport or any other transfers there are a few contacts available which we can pass on.

We are about 45 minutes from Wilson airport and about an hour & a quarter from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport - traffic contingent.

Uber can bring you here but to get back to town I suggest a local taxi.

Andere dingen waar je op moet letten
The last 5km are murrum (dirt) all weather road. Bumpy but passable.

Walking distance from Kitengela Hot Glass - where you can watch glassblowing. Enjoy the Glasstronomique Café there for pizza and the best homemade icecream for miles. Beautiful natural environs for hiking and gorge exploration.

Deliveries are possible from Karen, Langata or Nairobi from various restaurants or grocery stores. We can assist you with local rider numbers and delivery suggestions should you require.

We are following strict Covid cleaning protocols, and blocking out 24 hours before/after your visit. We will maintain a no contact check-in policy.

We have 24 hour caretakers on the property.
