Salty Towers is a unique accommodation facility owned by adventurous souls Deb Farlow & James Steel. They have been welcoming travelers, artists, musicians and others adventurous spirits for more than 20 years. It has been called a Chateau Alternatato and is certainly not for everybody. The building is over 120 years old. The house has 12 basic but comfortable rooms that are rented to overnight travelers. Some rooms have en suite baths others share bathrooms.
Salty Towers (and its predecessor The Seaside Inn) has been welcoming guests for close to 100 years. A number of rooms available some have en suite baths others share bathrooms. Don't be surprised to see musicians strumming on the porch, artists lounging in the living room and others of uncertain provenance swapping stories around the stove in the kitchen.
Guests have access to a number of common areas include large living room, sun room, enclosed sun porch and a great wrap around veranda and yard. We do not prepare any meals, but guests can use two well equipped kitchens if they'd like to prepare their own meals with their own food. We'll have coffee/tea on in the morning. There is free WiFi available throughout the house.
Salty Towers is our home and we are present when folks are staying with us. St. Andrews is our neighbourhood. We are 4 blocks from the centre of town, the wharf, shops and restaurants. We see the harbour from the front porch and the comings and goings of a myriad of walkers. St. Andrews is 13 blocks by 6 blocks, more or less. Walking and bicycle are preferred means of transport. The town really is a remarkable place with scores of things to see and do without having to get into a car. Everything from live music (sometimes at Salty Towers), kayaking, art shows and great food, opera and theatre (both seasonal) to viewing sea life, hiking and sailingl

It is our home as well so we are in residence when guests are here. We enjoy getting to know folks, sharing stories, a drink (or two), food on occasion and good times, but also realize that some folks just want to be on their own. We'll take out cues from you!
Andere dingen waar je op moet letten
St Andrews is an incredible place. There are scores of things to do without having to get in your car. Art, music, sea life, kayaking, sailing, hiking, great food, architecture, galleries, museums, interesting people....
There are often other guests in the house as well as our own family. Guest should acknowledge this and act appropriately. The house is non smoking. We have allowed pets in the past but please check first.
We enjoy life and the world around us. James has worked as a scientist, educator, innkeeper, artist, naturalist and artist manager. Deb as a child youth worker and server. Music, travel and food have always been a part of our lives and we love to share stories and opportunities with others. We have 3 kids between us, one a wildlife rehabilitation worker, another a touring musician and the third an arts administrator/community developer.
