Traditional weaver's Cottage from 1818 built around the remnants of a medieval house, parts of which still survive. Traditional renovation using clay, straw and wood. Cottage is situated in the Land of Extinct Volcanos, an area of outstanding landscapes unique to Poland. Good views of the volcano Ostrzyca/Spitzberg from the house the summit of which can be reached within an hour's walk. It is also a fantastic region for cycling, hiking, kayaking, horse riding, bird watching and geology.

De ruimte
Our work saw a long and meticulous renovation of a traditional weaver's cottage which was rescued from near-total ruin, with only around 40% of the roof still surviving. As a result it presents a space which is possibly unique on Airbnb : weaver's chambers, a medieval black kitchen, stone arches etc. On the other hand it is very easy to run: modern ecological stove, big cooker, 4 ensuite bathrooms. The house is located in a garden surrounded by mature trees, amongst them a 330-year old Linden tree. One of the borders of the garden is created by a stream. The sound of cascading water is ever present. The size of the garden is 3000m2.

Toegang voor gasten
Guests will have access to: a fully-equiped kichen, dining room, and hallway on the ground floor. The 4 bedrooms on the first floor each have their own bathrooms and reception areas. No other guests have accesss either to the house or the grounds during your stay.

Andere dingen waar je op moet letten
Guests will have access to the garden which is bounded by a trout-filled mountain stream and mature trees. Kingfishers are frequent visitors as are dormice, pine martens, foxes, roe and red deer with the occasional wild boar. There is a path to the fields just behind the garden which gives an easy option for walking or cycling.

Outstanding and unique landscapes, peace and birds singing in the garden (our garden is home to 2 or 3 pairs of nightingales which can be heard singing between April and June). A mountain stream behind the house. It is possible to make a bonfire in the garden and watch the stars at night (no light sources around).

We are Paul and Anna - English and Polish respectively; professional people formerly working as a Microbiologist and Exam officer for the University of Oxford. We have many, varied interests including travel, culture, history, etc. We are passionate about our house and have been restoring it for almost four years now, by traditional methods; techniques we knew nothing about prior to purchasing this near-ruin as it formerly was. Most of the work we did ourselves and are proud of the fact that most of the interior is structurally the same as it was when first built in 1808. We love nature and have an especially keen interest and knowledge of birds. Other hobbies include gardening, trekking in mountains, skiing, photography, good food and good wine amongst good company.
