Set down a quiet unmarked lane in Horsington Marsh, Feltham's Cottage has all the benefits of a country cottage (wood burning stove, surrounded by fields, farm next door) with mod cons (40 inch TV, microwave, access to heated swimming pool, gym).
Your own private drive and entrance, down a quiet, unnamed lane, gives you access to Feltham's Cottage. There you can relax outside in your own garden and porch with a BBQ (even a hammock in good weather), or inside with the wood burning stove, board games, and 40 inch digital TV & classic DVDs. There are comfy sofas, throws, original artworks, and a fully equipped kitchen (dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washing machine, & microwave). The main house has wifi but it is slow and so we're not going to get the cottage installed until the connection is better. We also have a child's cot, and high chair.
Secluded Somerset is all very well in the beautiful summer weather, but what about the rest of the years when it's, well, not? We offer you use of our heated indoor swimming pool and gym (with our permission and access - for insurance reasons we can't give you your own keys).
We live next door so we can either let you in, or if you arrive late, the keys are in a key lock by the front door. We welcome everyone who is staying a long weekend or more a basket of milk, fresh coffee and whatever is fresh and abundant at the time. You can have no interaction with us, that's fine, or we can direct you around the area as you wish.
With beautiful rural views of the Blackmore Vale, Horsington is a lovely quiet Somerset village. Our children go to school there, and their school meals are provided by the local pub, the Half Moon. There is Pevlings riding school up Cabbage Lane (1.5 miles away), historic Sherborne 15 minutes away with its 1000 year old Abbey, the new contemporary art gallery Hauser & Wirth in Bruton is 15 minutes drive north, and mythical Glastonbury 30 mins away. There is good walking, fishing and cider picking all within 10 minutes of us. Oh and the fabulous National Trust properties, Montacute House, Lytes Cary, & Stourhead with its beautiful gardens all about 20-35 mins drive away.
Getting around is best by car, though you could conceivably go to Templecombe train station from Waterloo, and walk to us across the fields (30 mins) you would then have to order in food and other provisions (which we can do).
If you book a week in advance we can provide you with breakfast materials, and possibly some meals. We also make our own cheese, Renegade Monk, which is being quietly liked by the Head Chef at La Formagerie in London, and about to be stocked at our local Roth Bar and Grill in Bruton. You can buy this from us direct.
