Excellent location - this listing is the most centrally located listing in Montpelier. You can easily walk everywhere in downtown. A wild, small front-yard flower garden welcomes you to this 120 year old Vermont house.
Guest bedroom is available in the third floor apartment (additional bedroom may be available upon request).
The bedrooms are sized generously (~13x11), fully furnished, well-lit by a couple of lamps (bright and efficient LED bulbs), and each has a very comfortable and new queen mattress (on the firmer side - mattress topper available upon request). The "front" bedroom (south-facing) looks onto the street and some of Montpelier's charming church and clock towers. The "back" bedroom (north-facing) looks onto a wooded slope.
Fresh towels, linens, pillows, etc. are all provided. To ensure your comfort, the room has its own heating unit and fan, and there are extra blankets, quilts, mattress topper, and pillows upon request!
The galley kitchen's dormer window looks out onto the golden dome of the neighboring VT Statehouse. The kitchen features a sleek flat-top electric stove and convection oven, and a full-size refrigerator. The kitchen is fully stocked with kitchen supplies, including a toaster oven, an electric hot water kettle, 3 ways to brew your coffee (drip machine, stovetop espresso, and an AeroPress), a coffee bean grinder, and an assortment of teas and locally-roasted coffee beans - all included for your enjoyment.
The snug, *shared bathroom is located just off the kitchen and features a bathtub/shower with a curved shower curtain rod. The bathroom is well-lit, and many basic amenities are provided (soap, shampoo, towels, toilet paper, and hair dryer). The shower has very good water pressure, and the hot water is both quick to arrive and lasts a long time. * The bathroom is only shared if I'm home, which is only the case about half the time - otherwise you'd have the apartment all to yourself.
The house has a shared, free laundry room just between the 1st floor apartment and the front foyer - you're welcome to use it in the daytime between 8am-8pm.
RATE AND POLICY:
The base rate is $50/night Sunday-Thursday and $60/night Friday-Saturday. Hosts receive about 94% of the base rate (Airbnb has a host fee). In addition to the base rate, Airbnb charges the guest a booking fee, which is around $7/night.
A $10 cleaning fee (lowest on Airbnb) and $100 refundable security deposit apply to every reservation. Two guests are included; if your group is larger, it's $20/night per additional guest. Flexible check-in, check-out, and cancelation policy.

Guest access is simple and straightforward: right up the front porch, through the front-door and up the flight of stairs (steep) to the door leading up to the 3rd floor apartment where your cozy accommodation awaits! This two bedroom, 3rd-floor apartment offers you 1 private bedroom with a common entry/living room, galley kitchen, and a small, shared bathroom. When you make a reservation, Airbnb will send you all details regarding check-in.
The second bedroom is available upon request - just ask if you're needing more than one bedroom for your stay.

I travel frequently, so we may not meet in-person, but I have an easy "self check-in" process. If I'm not around Montpelier and have guests before/after you, I will be sending you the simple details about the "DIY" (e.g. make your own bed) process that many of my guests use. If I'm around Montpelier, I'm always happy to trade some stories over a local, craft beer. Either way, I'm happy to answer your questions about Montpelier and central Vermont, and of course point you in the right direction for local places to go and things to do!
I currently have roommates in the front bedroom and you may be sharing the common areas of the 3rd floor apartment with them (depending on their schedule - they also travel often). They are a sweet, healthy, clean young couple (~30 years old) and whenever my guests have interacted with them, I've gotten rave reviews about my roommates.

This is a safe space, welcoming of all people.
A caution: light sleepers may be challenged by the thin walls/floors of this house, and the fact that being downtown in a small city can mean some frequent street noise. The house is on a small but busy street, and looks out onto a large parking lot, the rear of a busy USPS post office (trucks move frequently) and a clock tower (which sounds at the top of every hour - e.g. 12 times at midnight, 4 times at 4am and 4pm). The front bedroom faces the street and is exposed to more sun and city sounds then the back bedroom which faces a wooded slope (cooler and quieter).
* PARKING *
Winter (Nov 15 - April 1):
There is a total overnight (1am-6am) winter parking ban in effect on my street. As the Montpelier City website states: "Failure to move your car may result in a $15 ticket and a $65 towing charge."
You may use the free, overnight parking in the city-owned, metered parking lots found behind the Rite-Aid on Main Street (5 min walk from my house), or behind the Capitol Plaza Hotel / Northfield Savings Bank / Christ Episcopal Church (3 min walk from my house if you walk through the parking lot opposite of my house).
On-street (free!) parking only. The driveway is strictly reserved for downstairs tenants and neighbors.
* This is a shared apartment. The bedrooms are of course private, and are separated by the shared spaces: middle room, kitchen and bathroom. The shared spaces are small. You will likely be sharing the apartment with either Theo (Airbnb host) or with Theo's wonderful roommates (a sweet, friendly, and clean couple). However, depending on timing, you may have the entire apartment to yourself. * Please no smoking indoors (instead, the far side of the front porch is best).
* If you have house shoes or slippers, you're encouraged to wear those - leaving dirty shoes and boots in the hallway is much appreciated.
* Laundry room may be used between 8am-8pm.
* It's a clean, quiet, and peaceful house, so we're grateful for your care in helping to keep it that way.
* Additional guests / bedrooms:
Included in your booking is 2 guests in 1 bedroom. An additional guest in your bedroom is $20/night. With at least 1 week notice, you may request an additional bedroom for $50/night (with no additional guest fee). Changes to the reservation will be processed through Airbnb and must be confirmed prior to your stay.
I'm a pet lover and owner (2 dogs on my farm)! House-broken, non-aggressive pets are possible with a special request and a $20/pet fee (a 1-time fee, not per night). Any additional cleaning that's required may result in loss of some or all of the security deposit. Please no pets on furniture. Please do not leave pets unattended for long periods of time (i.e. 8+ hours), or any length of time if you have a pet that has separation anxiety or that barks frequently. Failure to respect these rules can result in an immediate cancelation of the stay, and/or loss of the security deposit. There are several local options for boarding pets - I'd be happy to make a recommendation if you're interested in having your pet nearby.
