We have a small bunkhouse for rent. It's usually our guest room when we have extended family in town and stuff. It's recently remodeled and attached to the wood-shop in our backyard along w covered area, hammock, etc. Easy access to all of Alpine! Bathroom is in the main house with 24/7 access.
This is a little bunkhouse attached to our woodshop in the backyard--it's recently constructed and (in our humble opinion) quite nice. It is a rustic space with some dust and occasional bugs. It's the desert--not chic urban living. It always has clean sheets and we try to keep it tidy. Currently has a set of bunkbeds, a queen bed, and a couch. Guessing it could sleep 4 adults or a couple and 2 kids. We live in a quiet neighborhood w ample street-side parking. Unfortunately, there is no restroom out there. Guests will be able to use the guest bathroom with easy access in the main house any time day or night. There is a shower in the house and we do have plenty of clean towels (we usually have some travel bottles, but you should bring your own soap and shampoo).
There is air conditioning and heating in the bunkhouse.
To reach the bunkhouse, park in front of the house and walk through the little gate on the left side of the house. The bunkhouse is in the back left corner of the backyard. If I know you're coming and I'm in town, I will leave the lights on for you.
Call or Text message works better if you need something the day of your arrival (or urgently), as we don't check our email that often.
Checkin: Show up and walk in!! There is no key to find or procedure. It's always nice to get a text message reminder that you're coming and what time you expect to arrive.
Checkout: place any used sheets and towels in the house in the laundry room. Sweep the floor and take the trash out to the dumpster behind the bunkhouse in the alley. It helps us avoid a cleaning fee and keep costs down if folks pitch in to keep the place ready for the next guests.

Additionally, we have a gazillion (gazebo + pavillion) that folks are welcome to use as well as a gas grill and a fire pit. We only ask that you buy your own firewood or reimburse us for ours if you want to make a fire.
We do have a kitchen in the main house, but would not routinely have guests cooking in there. If you needed to prepare food for grilling or wash a few dishes, we could probably work out something on a case-by-case basis. We do have password-protected wireless internet available (netgear94, unevenboat967).
Interactie met gasten
We're kind of open either way. The fact that you will use the guest bathroom in our house, means we'll probably be crossing paths at some point. This space is best used by independent people who just want a little more local flare than a generic hotel would provide when they stay somewhere. We're friendly, outgoing folks and will happily give you tips for enjoying this area. If you build a fire and hang out, then we'll prob hang out a little too--especially if people are picking music.
We are also happy to help you plan your trip and local adventures. We're pretty well-versed with the local attractions (Big Bend National Park, Terlingua, Marfa, Marfa Lights, McDonald Observatory, Balmorrhea--pronounced Bal-More-Ray).
Andere dingen waar je op moet letten
We have 2 pet turtles, a little free library, and we love music (Katie plays guitar and I play banjo).
PETS: we no longer accept pets at this location--sorry for the inconvenience.
Hopefully shouldn't have to put too much here.
- respect the property (and the fact that this is our house--where we live).
- leave the room clean
- keep it down after 10pm
- smoke outside only, pick up butts
- be nice to our neighbors
- don't pet any stray dogs
- don't get drunk and fall into a cactus
- if you have any problems or concerns, contact us immediately!!
Pets: we do allow pets and have a fenced-in yard. Just ask that you clean poo from the yard. We also have chickens (they live in a separate part of the yard) and they ocasioanlly stray from their safe area, so just ask that you accompany any dogs in the yard to protect the chickens onthe rare occasion they get out of their pen.
Please review the checkout policy--we run a very simple Airbnb and try to keep it affordable for everyone (and FUN for us). To help with this, we ask that guests bring in the sheets they used to be washed, take out the trash and sweep the floor.
I give 5 STARS for cleanliness for guests who follow the checkout guidelines.
I give 5 STARS for communication to guests who text or call on the day of their arrival to confirm a check-in time. I don't check email often enough to make it reliable.
My wife and I are family medicine doctors in Alpine. We were born and raised in East Texas, but spent the last 4 years in Madison WI. We moved to this area in the fall of 2013 because we have always loved this part of Texas and all the beauty and grandiosity it has to offer (big skies, bright stars, Big Bend, etc). We love to play ultimate frisbee and we both play music (I play banjo and Katie plays guitar).
