De ruimte
This cabin is truly special. When we moved here, it was a rustic, dark log cabin and it was the only structure on the farm. Last year we decided to renovate it and now it is a beautiful, bright and welcoming space.
The cabin has a double bed in a little bedroom nook, a futon that folds out into a queen sized bed, a kitchen table, a desk space and a fully equipped kitchen with a 4 burner stove and an oven.
Whereas this space is in excellent condition, please note that it is currently completely off-grid. This means that there is no electricity, running water or wi-fi in the cabin. During the day it is lit by the sun , at dark it is lit by battery-powered and oil lanterns. The bathroom is a clean outhouse 10 feet from the cabin and the shower is an outdoor solar shower on the side of the cabin. There is both a propane heater for your convenience, as well as a wood-burning stove. Upon your arrival there will be 3 gallon water jugs filled with fresh well-water. There is also a water pump 25 feet from the house where you can always refill!
This is an opportunity to stay in a comfortable, finished cabin while also taking a moment to unplug from the daily grind.

Toegang voor gasten
Guests have full access to this private cabin and the outdoor area surrounding it. There are woods behind the cabin you are welcome to explore. A walk down the road past the cabin will lead you to nice views and a small bridge crossing of the Sheepscot River.
Please be aware that this is working farm with livestock and there is often electric fencing around the farm that will limit where you can walk. We also ask that you refrain from picking vegetables and fruits in the gardens and orchards.

Andere dingen waar je op moet letten
We will have farm-raised vegetables, fruit, meat and eggs and maple syrup available seasonally. If you are interested in purchasing food for cooking on your trip, please let us know. We can give you an availability list and have the food in your cabin upon your arrival.

Montville is a secret gem of a town. Whereas it feels off-the-beaten-path it is also centrally located and within reach of many bustling towns and recreational areas. We live 5 miles from Lake St. George State Park, where there is swimming, boating, a nice playground and grilling sites. We are minutes from several Midcoast Conservancy Hiking Trails.
Our farm is located on secluded part of a beautiful country road and if you continue walking or biking down our road, you will come to old, maintained fields mixed with forest and eventually a little bridge passing over the Sheepscot River.

Within a 5- 40 minute drive you can access dozens of other hiking trails, biking trails, boating opportunities, several state parks, restaurants, local breweries, independent movie theaters, shops etc.
Liberty village is 8 minutes away with the famous Liberty Tool Co., Belfast is 20 minutes with the Belfast Food Co-Op and many restaraunts, Camden Hills area is 35 minutes, Waterville is 35 minutes, Unity and the Commonground Fairgrounds is 20 minutes and Acadia National Park 1.5 hours.

We are a family of five: Jacob, Maia, Osa, Quillan and Xande living on an off-grid farmstead in Midcoast Maine. 11 years ago, we began to build our house and establish sustenance and market gardens. We grow vegetables, culinary and medicinal herb, apples, pears, plums, elderberries, cranberries, raspberries and strawberries and blueberries. We also raise milking goats, sheep, pigs, chickens and turkeys. We also maintain a healthy forest, which includes a sugarbush that provides us with plenty of maple syrup every year. When not working on the farm we love to travel, explore the local lakes and ponds on our canoe, hike through the forest, ice skate, ski, snowshoe and ride our bicycles. We make music on our fiddles, banjo, piano and drums, spend time with our friends and work on various dynamic and evolving community-building projects. We love to cook, eat, put up food, and make things.... all sorts of things. We dream of a world where there is justice and freedom for all, clean air and water, unhindered access to nourishing food, good education and healthcare. We are committed to helping to build a world based on mutual aid, equality, respect and joy.
