Guests staying at Coastal Redwoods Retreat enjoy complete privacy and sole access to a custom home situated in an open, sunlit meadow, and nestled amongst 7 acres of second-growth redwood trees.
Coastal Redwoods Retreat is set up to accommodate your vacation's every need. This spacious two-bedroom home comfortably accommodates 4 adults, and has two bedrooms and two full bathrooms, both with bathtubs. Upstairs is the master bedroom, which has a king-size bed and private bathroom, and opens to a large balcony that looks out to the meadow below and surrounding forest. The downstairs bedroom has a queen-size bed and adjoining bath, and opens to a wraparound deck. A sofa bed in the living room opens to a not-quite-full-bed-size that comfortably sleeps 1-2 children (or, less comfortably, 1-2 adults), and a smaller chaise lounge upstairs can sleep a small child. All this means that - with children - the house can comfortably accommodate 6 people.
The house is stocked with several outdoor and indoor games, as well as an extensive library of books, for you to enjoy during your stay. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a bbq grill and outside picnic area available for your use, making this a great place to make and enjoy relaxed meals. The wood stove in the open living/dining area makes the house particularly cozy, particularly on colder winter days or foggy summer evenings. Premium Satellite TV package gives you access to 190+ channels, including HBO, extended sports package, and many more, as well as access to all Netflix programming.
Toegang voor gasten
The house is surrounded by a large deck, which features a private hot tub and several outdoor seating areas - relax in the hot tub, enjoy a good novel while listening to the sounds of rustling redwoods, or enjoy a game of badminton on the lawn. Trails on the property take you on a loop through the redwoods surrounding the house, or on a short walk to a small pond and open picnic area, all without leaving the privacy of the property.
Andere dingen waar je op moet letten
This 7-acre end-of-road property is adjacent to miles and miles of open forest land, so wildlife - deer, raccoons, foxes, owls, possum, and skunks - are frequent visitors to the property, along with the occasional bear.
Our rural area also means that Wi-fi and cell phone access will probably be a bit slower than guests coming from urban areas might be used to. The Internet connection is fast enough for general web-browsing and streaming movies, but connectivity issues are not uncommon. Similarly, the cell phone reception is completely usable, but you might find that it's spottier in some areas of the house/property.
- No smoking on the property, please.
- No pets
- No candles, please
- Do not place anything (including food, clothing, water, pots/pans, etc) on top of the wood stove.
- Children playing in or near the pond or hot tub must have adult supervision at all times
- Please don't drive more than 15 mph on our road - help keep our family-friendly country road safe!
- If using hot tub, please follow all hot tub usage rules, as detailed in the house manual that we will email to you prior to your arrival (our hot tub rules are very straightforward, e.g. please don't sit on top of closed hot tub cover; no glassware in hot tub; rinse off dirt and sand before entering; etc).
- For guests staying longer than 1 week: In order that we can keep the hot tub sanitized, and the house clean, for the entirety of your stay, we will arrange to refresh and clean the house after 1 week. We will work with you to find a mutually convenient time.
Benji and Melissa moved to Humboldt County in 2011 from San Francisco, where we lived and worked for 12 and 14 years, respectively.
In SF, Benji started and ran Refried Cycles. Melissa worked in the environmental/education nonprofit world.
We moved to Bayside to get out of the city, and to take the pace of our lives down a notch. Melissa now works at Humboldt State, and Benji (when he's not working on our property) works at the local bike shop and outdoor store. We've always been fascinated with alternative buildings and living off-grid.
We love being outside, and appreciate all of the incredible nature this part of the state offers. In our free time you'll find us surfing, hiking, playing punk rock (Benji), backpacking, sea kayaking, fishing, gardening, cooking, traveling... and sometimes just taking a mellow stroll with our big dog Murphy.
