We are so sorry our lovely home was not what you were looking for. We tried to anticipate your every need and question, so we are baffled by the review.
But just to be clear for future guests- we do not stay in the house when you do. Although we sometimes wait to welcome guests, on this occasion and only stopped in the 24-hours before to put out fresh-cut flowers and a bowl of fresh fruit, and restock the complimentary guest tray in the fridge with cold drinks as we always do before a guest’s arrival.
It says clearly on the house description:
- “This is our home, not merely a rental property, so we are interested in renting to folks who will care for it as we do and treat it kindly.”
- “The entire first floor is the rental space which includes your private use - all rooms plus deck and grounds to enjoy.”
- “The owners have their things in storage upstairs for when you are not renting.”
- “I cook, so there are small appliances and an array of spices and staples in the cabinets and drawers.” (Guests are invited to use supplies as needed)
In addition, the House Manual with detailed property information (including the driveway) is sent in advance and indicates:
“The house is a regular house where just plain folks live (when you are not our guests!)”
We did everything in our power to prepare for these guests to have a happy and comfortable stay. We can only guess that, being from out of town, they confused historic and quaint Sag Harbor with the rest of the Hamptons. Most of their concerns are, in fact, addressed in the House Manual and we are always happy to answer any questions our future guests might have.
