Tyn Llyn is situated in a fabulous spot, it should be a film location. Extremely basic, no electricity or drinking water. The outdoors, night sky and peace and quiet are what you are there for with cosy evenings in by the wood burner or stay outside with a campfire.
So much of the space is outside really, but downstairs there is a cosy sitting room with the essential wood burner and small kitchen. Upstairs a double bedroom with plenty of rugs on the bed and a small bathroom with conventional suite.
The cottage is really for a couple but it is possible for a family to have children camping outside with a safe retreat if necessary!
Lighting is mainly by candles although there is potential for 12v electric lighting via a battery we charge. The cooker is gas and there is a gas fridge and the water is heated by gas too.
Heating is all from the wood burner and that tends to be kept going all year and most of the day too if you can, we do have logs but you can also forage for wood too.
The water supply is from the lake and for washing plates, baths and the loo etc. So you collect tap water from us on your way past in containers.
Toegang voor gasten
You have access to 600 acres of hills and valleys and the mountain and lake that make up our hill farm.
There is informal use of a kayak and mountain bikes in debatable states of repair. We can supply fishing equipment or tell you where you can get hold of all of the above and more.
Walk from the door to your east along the high ground looking around at the views on all sides. Take a picnic and it is two miles to the Roman camp at the furthest point of our land. Drop down to the valley and walk back on the other side of the lake and home. Or you can go further from the camp and go south and up to Mynydd Mynyllod where there is another high Llyn and walk back westerly looking down on Llyn Tegid and Bala.
Access by car is not bad. It is easy to find from the main A494 and tarmac takes you to a gate asking cars to stop there. You can go through this and one more gate on a rough track and then you are looking down on the farmhouse and the lake. The track is fine for normal cars as long as you are not too precious!

We can usually be contacted by text or email if your phone is connected and often will be at our home Caerau Uchaf which you pass the drive to on your way. We may not be able to drop everything but will be as helpful as possible although there is an element of self sufficiency and a level of practicality needed atTyn Llyn.
Andere dingen waar je op moet letten
After leaving the tarmac road the track to the cottage is a little rough. It is perfectly accessible by ordinary car but can be bumpy.
Our privately owned lake, approx 400 metres away is available for your use with a rough selection of boats and canoes for you to play with. Coarse fishing is allowed on the lake. Perch and pike can be caught quite easily.
We do have other holiday cottages in the locality but not visible to you. The guests in these cottages do have access to the lake as well but you probably won't see a soul.
Self sufficiency is essential!! You will love it!
