Welcome to the Blue House!
You are booking the entire main level of a 1900 home with original wood floors, a claw foot tub and vintage retro charm. Located 12 blocks from UNL's campus edge, 17 blocks from the South end of Memorial Stadium, and 10-12 blocks from the hay market. We are 2 and 3 blocks from Cultiva Coffee House and a small grocery store. There is ample free on street parking in front. We offer negotiable transportation services to/from games in the fall for a fair fee!

De ruimte
The space you are booking is just shy of 1500 sq ft. It is an antique home so please keep that in mind, if you are looking for a sleek, modern or new place, this is most likely not the home for your stay.

Please familiarize yourself with the house rules and amenities list on Airbnb for this listing and please, read the entire listing to avoid any confusion about the space.

The home has two bedrooms with queen beds plus a sofa that one can sleep on in the living room and a new futon that converts to an additional bed for one located in the dining room. (Bedding for the futon and sofa are in the South closet of the South bedroom, as is an additional memory foam mattress for topping the sofa).

The claw foot tub has a shower and we provide towels, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. The vintage bathroom is longer and narrow, if you have physical limitations, this might not be the home for your stay.

The kitchen is equipped with items to make basic meals; dishes, utensils, pots, pans, measuring cups/spoons, wine glasses/opener, whole bean coffee/tea, salt/pepper, paper towels, some spices, oil, coffee pot, tea pot, kettle, ice trays, coffee grinder and hand juicer.

There are several games and a deck of cards in the small sideboard in the living room plus bike maps, Nebraska attraction info, a few books and Nebraska magazines for reading on the dining room desk. (Please do not take our deck of cards so other guests may enjoy using them.)

If you are looking for a big TV or sound system, this might not be the place for you. (We do not provide cable but WiFi is provided and personal entertainment subscriptions should be available via your password info).

You will be staying in a culturally diverse area of town with a mix of houses and apartments that house college students, working class, and owner occupied historical homes.
The house is near downtown, 7 blocks South of K Street, which is the Southernmost edge of downtown.

Walk to the South entrance of Memorial (1.4 miles) and Haymarket Park (1.9 miles).
Walk to the Haymarket ( 1-1.5 miles).
Walk to the south edge of city campus (1 mile)
On bus route
On bike route
Uber, Lyft and local cab companies like yellow or checker cab.

I am available for transport for a reasonable additional fee often.

I am happy to recommend several restaurants; Continental and steaks (JTK), an old Lincoln restaurant in an old historical home (Billy's) with good Groupon and Friday lunch specials, fast delicious burritos (D’Leons), a friendly American restaurant (9 South Chargrill), Eastern (sultans Kite), good Chinese delivery (Imperial Palace-their Traditional menu is delish) and more...plus activities.

Coffee house, pizza shop, bakery, small grocery store called Guerrero Market, small ice cream and taco shop, ATM, and liquor store are 2 and 3 blocks north of the house...all are locally owned.

Lots of bars downtown, brewery’s and a great coffee/pastries/beer at Method 6.5 blocks directly north.

Natural food coop (Open Harvest) is 1.2 miles away. And the new Haymarket Canopy Street Market is 1.4 miles from the house.

Gorgeous state Capital nearby.
Parks and trails nearby.
Check out our guidebook for more Lincoln suggestions.

The washer and dryer area will be permitted for use for our guests staying over 6 nights free of charge. Guests staying less than 6 nights may use the washer and dryer for a fee of $5 per nights stay (i.e. 3 nights stay, total additional fee of $15). Please turn off lights when not in the basement, provide your own detergent/products and clean the filter between and after use.

There is central heating in the winter and three separate window a/c in the summer.

We ask in the house rules for guests to turn off all the lights and switch the air and heating systems to energy saving settings upon leaving. In order to conserve energy and keep our costs low, we do charge $25 per day fee for energy systems left on or high if the guest does not follow this instruction.

We are environmentally mindful.
Please set aside your recyclables and we will recycle them for you!

Andere dingen waar je op moet letten
There is room for you to keep your bike in the apartment. We are a bike friendly city. You can take our bike trails east to Omaha and south toward Beatrice to a winery!

Please be conscious of noise late at night. The upper level unit tenants live there full time and have jobs etc.
this is their home too!

This is a very old home, we will respect your peace and quiet but you might see some neatly stacked building materials and projects on the outside of the home in certain seasons, we are often working on projects to restore the home. Thanks for your stay, you are helping make an old Lincoln Neighborhood better!

Tijdens je verblijf
Intermittently to rarely or as needed.
I prefer to meet my guests at least once but on many occasions, that is not possible. I try my best to communicate quickly and effectively and I'm happy to give recommendations about the area. If you're staying longer, and it works with our schedules, I'm happy to have coffee, tea or a drink with you if you are looking for some social connection! You are welcome to join the 6 pm Monday yoga class next door if your schedule permits. Please let us know in advance if you want to join.
In cases where I can't get you settled in personally, I'll have safe and reliable arrangements that we'll communicate about before you arrive.
