Secluded spot on a sheep farm with views of hill and easy access to Snowdonia, Bangor, Anglesey and cycle track from Bangor to Bethesda. The caravan is in an area of natural beauty, surrounded by ancient historical sites. The mountains and sea as well as activity centres such as Zip World are close by. The caravan has 2 bedrooms, shower room, toilet, kitchen/dining space and lounge with extra sleeping space, gas fire and electric heaters. All bed linen and towels provided.

De ruimte
The caravan is a self-contained unit situated behind the buildings that form the farmyard. It is accessed along a short (40m) grass track from the lane. There is a parking space at the start of this track. The caravan is basic, not luxury accommodation but it's clean, warm and well-equipped for visitors. We have recently acquired a high chair and a bed guard for younger children. The main bedroom is spacious in caravan terms and has good storage spaces. The second bedroom is small and great for children but a squeeze for two adults. It is possible to put the two narrow beds together to make a better space for one adult - let me know if that's what you want as I can prepare that. Two more people can sleep on the pull-out bed in the lounge area. There's a shower room with a washbasin and a separate toilet, also with a washbasin. The kitchen area, equipped with a gas cooker, microwave, toaster and kettle, is integral with a dining area and the lounge. The big window at the end of the lounge looks out to the hills. There are electric heaters in the bedrooms and kitchen and a gas fire in the lounge. Importantly, when we lived in the caravan for a month, we realised that wellies and wet coats were a problem so we've added a porch for storage of wet gear.

The caravan has a fenced area outside but this is to keep grazing animals out, not visitors in! There is a picnic table within the fenced area.

Toegang voor gasten
You're welcome to roam the farm as long as you are sensible. From the caravan you can walk out onto the hill with the Iron Age Fort which is immediately behind the caravan.

Andere dingen waar je op moet letten
We live on a small sheep farm with 38 hectares (90 acres) of land which guests are welcome to share. The land has grazed fields, woodland, rocky areas, marsh, streams and ponds and some lovely wild areas to explore. If you're interested in the environment then there's lots to explore on the farm. A recent bat survey identified five species and two years ago I came face-to-face with an otter early one morning. Foxes and badgers roam the land and we have seen stoats as well as the many smaller mammals such as voles and mice. Birds of prey that feed on the small mammals and birds can be spotted. Buzzards are frequent and occasionally you might spot a red kite, particularly at lambing time. Tawny owls can be heard at night and we have had barn owls in the past but not recently. Sparrow hawks and kestrels fly over the farmland, their presence often signalled by a flock of angry swallows. Botanically the farm is diverse as the range of habitats enables woodland, wetland and grassland species to thrive. In the autumn many different species of fungi can be found and this area is well-known for the range of wax caps that it supports on the grazed fields. During the summer you will see different species of moths, butterflies and dragonflies that rely on the range of plants which grow on the farm.
Historically the farm has some interesting features. The caravan nestles below an Iron Age hillfort called Cae'r Pencraig where remains of some of the ancient walls have been uncovered. Your imagination has to fill-in the rest of the picture of the fort and its ancient occupants as this is a scheduled monument which cannot be excavated without permission. From the top of the hillfort - a two minute walk - you can see the Carneddi mountain range, the mountains to the west of the Nant Ffrancon valley, the island of Anglesey and the coast towards Llandudno. Below the house and the fort are clearly-defined huts circles, some in the classic clover pattern.
In the caravan there are identification books for you to use, a map of the farm and details of the hill fort. Please ask if you would like to borrow pond-dipping equipment or a bat detector. We encourage visitors to let us know what they've seen or found as extra pairs of eyes are an asset!

We live between the sea and the mountains and from the caravan the hill behind us (Moelyci) is easily accessed on public paths. From the top it offers superb views over the coast in one direction and the mountains of Snowdonia in the other. On a clear day the Isle of Man, the Lake District and the Bay of Liverpool are visible.

With Snowdonia in one direction and the wonderful beaches of Anglesey in the other the caravan is well-placed for many activities. Snowdonia offers a variety of outdoor activities from walking, climbing and canoeing. There are many beautiful villages and places to visit if you have a car. There is also a huge variety of tourist attractions from zoos and mines to castles, museums and mansions. Railway enthusiasts will enjoy the restored narrow gauge railways which served the slate quarries.

Note that the nearest shop is in Bethesda (3 miles away) and the nearest big supermarket (Tesco) is 5 miles away. There is a pub within 30 minutes' walk along footpaths.
