We understand you were disappointed and frustrated about the boat rental. To clarify you asked specifically about a jet ski rental, not a boat rental, on May 1st. I responded the same day and said I would look into it, which I did. I got back to you on May 5th saying that I couldn’t find anything, which I didn’t. On May 6th you booked with us anyway after you knew I didn’t find a jet ski rental.
From that time on I didn’t hear anything more from you about a rental, until June 12th when you told me you found a place to rent a pontoon and put money down. You never checked with me first to make sure it was ok before putting down your non refundable deposit. In the meantime our lake put up a new gate, without our knowledge, and with key only access. As I explained I don’t have a key to it. The reason they changed it is to prevent outside boats from renters coming onto the lake and bringing in invasive species. This situation was out of our control as well. I tried everything I could do to help you get your money back and the rental guy wouldn’t budge. I went as far as offering to take your family out as much as you wanted on our boats on our dime. I know that isn’t the same as your own, but I did try. Additionally it wasn’t until after you arrived that you told me that you contacted the lake board and they gave you permission to put on the boat and they would meet you the day after check in. I was surprised, but happy that they bent the rules for you. Later during your stay I actually found out that you had known several days before check in about the access being granted. I was disappointed that you withheld that information purposely from us.
Also I know this was your first time booking with Airbnb, but we don’t receive any money until 24 hrs after your arrival so we weren’t intentionally withholding information from you about anything as there would be no benefit to us.
I am only responding on this situation to clarify a few things since your review had this situation in it.
In the end, it did all work out and I’m glad it did. Thank you for being responsible with the boat. The Board actually said you were very respectful of the water rules and others.
Best Wishes Richard.
