Be amazed by San Agustin's Art Center. The first ecological art center in Latin America. An inspiring place where art, nature, architecture and history meet.
San Agustin's Art Center once was a fully operational textile factory back in 1883, then abandoned and forgotten. Several years later, Francisco Toledo, a brilliant Mexican artist, bought the property and transformed it into today´s art center. A place for education, exhibition, and production of art.
Fully guided in ENGLISH and Spanish. We'll meet in downtown Oaxaca to begin our journey to San Agustin Etla.
Our first stop will be the bustling market at Villa de Etla. Here, you'll experience an authentic oaxacan market where local farmers and vendors gather to sell all kinds of things. Local food and drinks, cheese, ice cream, chocolate and more.
Then, we'll drive to the Art Center where we'll visit the stunning Soledad Vista Hermosa church (a rare find in Oaxaca being a neo-gothic church). Then, we'll enter the art center and walk around the gardens, the art galleries, the terracota stairs, walk by the old factory buildings and the old chimney. You'll notice how plants, stone, metal, and water create a perfect harmony with the architecture of this unique place.
Don't miss out on this amazing half day trip.
