Wat je gaat doen
Dear guests,
Upon arrival at the class, I will measure each guest's temperature. If it is above 37 degrees Celsius, the class will be cancelled. I recommend that you measure your temperature before your arrival. Nariko's Kitchen will charge 2000 yen per person as a cancellation fee (to cover the costs of ingredients) if one of the guests' temperature is above 37.
After meeting at JR Nippori station, we walk to my private home which takes only 5 minutes.
We will use our feet to knead the dough because the dough is quite hard. You might be surprised to hear it but this is actually the traditional Japanese way of making it. Don’t worry, it’s all going to be very hygienic! We will cover up the dough with plastic bags and knead it with our feet. We will also make dashi (stock) to make the soup. And as a final step we will make tempura: You will learn how to prepare shrimp and vegetables for tempura, how to fry it and how to display it beautifully on a plate. We will season our tempura with matcha salt.
After enjoying the food you made, I will take you to a supermarket(optional, morning class only) and introduce the ingredients which we used in the class.
Note:
*We will use dashi(stock) sachet which is easy to use for udon soup.
*We will use tempura flour for tempura batter.
Other things to note
I also have "Traditional Japanese sweets & Matcha tea" class and "Home style Ramen & Gyoza" class. Usually I conduct classes at 10am and 4pm. If you want to switch the time, please inquire before booking.

We will meet at Nippori station, then walk to my house where the cooking classes are held. Nippori is known for "Fabric Town" an area where you can find interesting items if you are into arts and crafts, there are also beautiful traditional streets and many temples to visit. After the cooking class, I will be happy to explain to you how to reach these spots that are only a few minutes walking distance.

Nariko is a very organized and experienced teacher. Even though we cook at home, we learned many tips and experienced a new way of cooking and using ingredients. This was a fun cooking class to experience in Tokyo. I would highly recommend it. My kids are 14 and 16 and also really enjoyed the experience.

Our cooking experience in Nariko’s Kitchen was the perfect way to end our honeymoon in Japan. Nariko is a wonderful host and she took the time to really connect with us.
