Wat je gaat doen
This “make & take” type of Hana Lima (workshop) is perfect for visitors looking for a Hawaiian culture experience. Guests will learn the Hawaiian language, culture, history and art of making your very own, customized pāpale niu piko 'ole (open top coconut hat), which will last you a lifetime! These are perfect for both male and female to rock to the beach and/or while exploring beautiful Hawaii, where I was born and raised.
When guests arrive you will learn basic Hawaiian language relative to coconut palm and hat weaving. I will provide a fresh cut and prepared coconut palm. Each guest will make 1 coconut hat customized to their head. We will measure and fit it to your head to make sure it fits well. I will then guide you in weaving your very own coconut hat.
When completed, the finished pāpale niu will be ready to show off and wear around for the remainder of your vacation and to wherever home is for you. It takes 2-4 weeks to dry your coconut hat, but whether its green or dried out, they are perfect to wear on any occasion, especially on a vacation in Hawaii.
When we are finished, I will also be happy to and do my best to take some photos of you with your own camera or camera phones (iPhone and/or androids).

Come willing and ready to try something new. I will help you and make sure you have a beautiful hat!

I am a Hawaiian girl, born and raised on these beautiful Hawaiian islands with cultural practices. I have over 30 years of professional hula dancing experience in Waikiki, hula competition, life throughout Hawai’i & around the world. I grew up making fresh lei, skirts & all other adornments necessary to perform. I also have formal Hawaiian language education & fluency. I continue to share these traditions with my Keiki (children) and others.

Waar je naartoe gaat
We will meet at a beautiful beach on the North Shore of O'ahu, Kokololio Beach Park. This is a perfect setting to weave in Hawaii. You will be amazed with the view. I will meet you at the Northern most end of the parking lot where I will lead you our weaving spot, next to the beach. However, depending on the weather, I will contact you the morning of and you will follow me, by car, to our indoor location (just 1 mile from the beach).

Elke ervaring kan binnen 24 uur na aankoop, of ten minste zeven dagen voor aanvang, worden geannuleerd met volledige restitutie.
Geldig Legitimatiebewijs
Je moet een foto van jezelf nemen die overeenkomt met de foto op je ID. Zo kan Airbnb bevestigen wie daadwerkelijk aan de ervaring zal deelnemen. Dit hoef je maar een keer te doen.
Vereisten voor gasten
Er kunnen maximaal 10 gasten van 12 jaar en ouder deelnemen. Ouders mogen ook kinderen jonger dan twee jaar meenemen.
