Wat je gaat doen
Food is definitely one of the most important parts of every culture around the globe. So, get ready for quite a frugal brunch! We'll try some authentic street food & drinks, while mingling with the locals". Street Markets in Brazil are called "FEIRAS" and mostly every neighborhood hosts its own "feira" on a specific day of the week.
You can choose to have this experience in 2 different neighborhoods of Rio: Laranjeiras (on Saturdays) and Glória (on Sundays), the most famous street markets in town. It will involve all your senses, especially the sense of taste, of course. We'll make our way through the markets, stopping at selected food vendors for samples. Don't expect anything fancy or elegant, just good food and rustic ambiance.
If you choose to have this experience on a Saturday, we can stay for a live music presentation that takes place on the street. On Sundays, if you want to, we can go for a walk at a lovey park, nearby the street market and relax a bit.
Both the tour and the tastings are included in the price. I'll also provide my personal recommendations, to help you make the most out of your stay in Rio.
Other things to note
We are going to a street market where bathrooms are not available and we're also going to be eating with our hands . But don't worry, I'll provide extra napkins and hand sanitizer.

Olá!
My name is Rafaela (but you can call me Rafa). I was born and raised in Rio and has been living at Glória since 2014. I'm a food enthusiast, passionate about local traditions. Travelling & Eating are my passion and going to a street market is all about getting to know about a city. I will introduce you to some street vendors that I know and we are going to try nice tropical fruits and some interesting local food, like the famous tapioca.
In 2017 I started to work as a Tour Guide in Rio and I simply love my hometown. So, being with me on this experience is also a way for you to feel like a real "carioca"! At the end of the tour I can also provide you some nice tips of places to visit in Rio, escaping from the ordinary.
* All food & drink tastings are included in the price.

We are going to be walking through the street market and stopping at selected vendors that I've been in touch for many years. After we get some nice food and drinks we will 2 different options to finish our experience:
On Saturdays - stay to listen to some nice brazilian live music (samba & choro)
On Sundays - go to a beautiful garden a few meters away the market, where we are going to seat and relax.

Rafaela's guided tour through the Gloria market was a great way to spend a Sunday. I'd definitely recommend doing this tour. Particularly if you were not fortunate enough to grow up surrounded by tropical fruits and veg. I have some familiarity with Brazilian food but I still learned lots of new things. It's also a great opportunity to ask a local questions about life in Rio and the diversity of food in Brazil.
