Beekeeping experience with Honey tasting: Learn hands on how to inspect a bee hive and extract pure natural honey directly from the comb. You will learn how to put on beekeepers jacket, light a bee smoker and use a hive tool to extract and taste varietal honey directly from an active bee hive. The honey bee hives are in the center of Baton Rouge located on 150 acres of a beautiful well maintained research farm. Perfect introduction to beekeeping for someone who wants a colony or someone who wants to learn more about how to Save the Bees. I am flexible on the scheduled time and happy to coordinate the best time to fit your schedule.

Step back in time to pre-industrial Louisiana at this 27-building museum complex, one of the best outdoor museums in the U.S., featuring tools, furniture and other artifacts and, the highlight, a recreated 19th-century plantation that portrays the daily lives of these early settlers.

This experience was amazing all around! Kevin is very informed and passionate about beekeeping. He provided body suits, netted hats, and gloves to ensure our safety, and he gave us a good amount of time to get ready. Kevin showed us the more docile bees first, and we looked at many of the other ‘hives’ within our comfort zone. We never felt rushed, and he answered all of our questions with a lot of enthusiasm! We wrapped up with an afternoon snack featuring some honey from his colonies. It was absolutely wonderful, especially given his wonderful and positive company. Definitely an afternoon well spent!

Wat je mee moet nemen
You will be in the middle of tens of thousands of bees and wearing proper safety equipment is imperative. We suggest you wear closed toe shoes with socks and thick loose fitting pants. We do have full bee suits available.
