Wat je gaat doen
This two hour walking tour provides sightseers a personal touring experience that captures the essentials of Charleston from local historian Jeff Zimmerman. Through Jeff's unique narrative, you will learn about and discover the many aspects of the city that time forgot. Starting at scenic Waterfront Park, Jeff will give a opening narrative that retrace Charleston's wondrous history from the city's founding in 1670, to the present day. After the introduction, Jeff will lead you into the oldest surviving section of the city where you will get closer to our most beloved landmarks and explore less touristy nooks and alleyways that are off limits to carriage and bus tours. Photo enthusiasts will enjoy the numerous opportunities for breathtaking images of stately architecture, lush gardens, and splendid ornamental iron work. The natural world is also a big part of Jeff's narrative. Depending on the season, Charleston's botanical world is an ever changing kaleidoscope of color. Through the lens of a local, you will also learn about the city's unique culture and the many ethnic groups that have contributed to make Charleston the distinct great city it is today.

Jeff
I would describe myself as being a certified history nut. My forefather Johann Christian Zimmerman left the province of Nassau-Dillenburg Germany and arrived in Carolina in 1758. As an eight generation Carolinian, it is my passion to present the unique story of this historic city to visitors from around the world. I have been a licensed tour guide for the city since 1997. I studied American History at Lord Fairfax College, architecture at the college of Charleston, and hold a Bachelor Science from Charleston University.
