Wat je gaat doen

Boston's many historic landmarks are linked by a 2.5-mile brick line known as the Freedom Trail. Walking at a leisurely pace, we will follow this popular route—deviating into side alleyways to avoid crowds and visit hidden history—while I share with you the tumultuous story of Boston prior to the beginning of the American Revolution in 1775. I believe the best history is shared as a story; to that end, I have arranged the story of Boston in the 1760s and 1770s into three "tour chapters": The James Otis (lesser-known founder of the Sons of Liberty); The Samuel Adams (well-known for a famous beer he had nothing to do with); and The Paul Revere (best-known for a particular ride on a horse). With the Freedom Trail landmarks as our backdrop and these three local Bostonians as central characters, we will discuss both sides of an explosive argument that would lead to the creation of the United States: Sons of Liberty versus Friends of Government. Our 1.5-mile storytelling stroll will begin on Boston Common (ca. 1634) and pass the many historic landmarks to be found in Boston's Downtown and North End, concluding beside the Paul Revere Statue near the Old North Church (ca. 1723).

I moved to Boston five years ago with a BA in U.S. History and Archaeology. Upon arrival, I became an Outreach Educator for the Paul Revere House (ca. 1680), one of the Freedom Trail's most-visited historic sites. I soon moved up to become the Visitor Services Manager for Old South Meeting House (ca. 1729), where the Boston Tea Party began. By 2015, I joined the National Park Service and spent two years as a Park Ranger for Boston National Historical Park, leading daily tours through Boston and interpreting Faneuil Hall (ca. 1742) and the Battle of Bunker Hill (ca. 1775) monument and museum.

Waar je zult zijn

After years of leading tours along the Freedom Trail, I know numerous hidden routes in Boston and historical gems as we weave our way through town. If you have a particular interest, I am always happy to cater to your private tour. We will conclude in the North End, home to Boston's Little Italy, which has more than a few options for delicious Italian food.
