Wat je gaat doen
Seoul is known as metropolis with high technology and sky scrapers . It's also famous of party squares and numerous bars. However, have you ever heard about its slum area? Moreover, do you know the slum is actually right next to the richest neighborhood?
Seongbuk-dong was a nameless outskirt of Seoul until Korea until 20th Century. But now days, it turned out as the most interesting area of Seoul with its ironic panorama between rich and poor neighborhood. And it also has many traditional houses from 1900-1960 which reflects modern history of Korea.
In the beginning, we will walk through alleys of those traditional houses. And I'll explain you about modern history of Korea and some architectural details. Then we will enter the richest area and see who and why they settle down there. Our lunch spot is in the temple which was a bar before. I'll share its romantic secret after our meal.
After having lunch. We will climb a small hill to slum area. From there, we will see abandoned houses and garbage fence. The last destination is the highlight of tour : you will see a panoramic view of poor neighbor hood along with developed city view.
Other things to note
Please wear comfortable shoes and bring water. Hansung University station is on metro line 4.

Each of us made a great journey in South America & Europe. We had stayed with local people, learned a joy of discovering 'hidden aspects' of each city. Both of us kept thinking how can we deliever that joy to other travelers, especially in here Seoul.
One day we accidantely met each other through internet, and decided to built 'loving korea' project - activities to make you 'fall in love' with Korea.
* Junseok is currently in Austrailia, So Jaemin will guide you alone

Ironically you'll also see poor people's houses just 20 minutes from there. we'll also cover the most authentic & secret temple in a Seoul with a Romantic story. In the final point, we have to hike a bit to see a magnificent view of seoul fortress wall and its apartments

I participated in this experience with my mother-in-law and husband. Our host was likable, attentive and patient. He asked questions and made us feel comfortable, and was specially kind to my mother-in-law, which was very special. He always answered our questions as well. We had a wonderful time together.

This was an eye opening experience that helped us understand the religious and social history of South Korea's population leading to the current status. The old and the new, the rich and the poor (still rich at heart). A good walk to an absolutely stunning Buddhist temple with a fabulous romantic story about its origins. Continuing on with a fair bit of uphill unto the walls of the original Seoul fortress will allows for stunning birds-eye views of the the more modern developments of Seoul further afield. We came away with a really good understanding of the architecural development of Seoul and the surroundings spanning a period of of few hundred years. We were thoroughly amazed by the depth of knowledge of our versatile tour guide. We would absolutely recommend this tour for anyone who is interested in the history, culture of Seoul along with a good urban hike.

Exellent experience !
I came late for one hr and Junseok still waited for me. He also helped to restructured the tour to fit my limited time perfectly. I really enjoyed the experience and learnt so much about Korea History , Culture and Economics. I could not find the same knowledge somewhere else. I would highly recommend the tour to anyone who would want to learn deeper about Korea.
