Wat je gaat doen
You will drive through lovely country side of Tai-Tapu, along Old Tai Tapu Road and see the Halswell River with the native paradise ducks and Pukekoes, you can park out our farm and we will meet you at the farm gate, and welcome you to our farm. If you want old farming clothes and old wellington/gum boots we can provide these (make sure you bring a pair of socks with you). We will walk you to the barn and the paddock areas where the sheep are located. From then on you are a Kiwi farmer and we will get you to help round up the sheep, this can be a fun activity for all age groups, as rounding up sheep is not an easy task as you will find out!!!! It is easier than it looks :) You will then work as a team to round the sheep up and move then into the Farm Barn. Once the sheep are in the barn, this is where we all get up close and personal, as we all get in the Barn as well. Here you get the options of hand feeding the sheep with tasty sheep nuts and Lucerne hay, you can pick up the lambs and pose for selfies/photos. We are happy to take videos and photos for you. We teach you about the sheep, you can learn how to trim their toenails, treat them for worms, give them medicine, identify if they are male or female, sometime trim their wool, sometimes bottle feed orphaned lambs. The are friendly and baa alot !
We have a small farm in Tai-Tapu, (which is Maori for sacred watering hole). Where we have cows, sheep, goat, chickens and ducks. We have been involved in farming and animals all our of lives, having both grown up on our family farms. We are passionate about sustainable living and being able to live off the land. We love sharing our passion about farm animals and living off the land to all that are interested. We both have a great sense of humour and let visitors get as involved as they want to. We offer a hands-on approach with lots of animal interaction as well as lots of information about the animals and living sustainably, understanding animal and poultry breeding. At different times of the year there are different things going on at the farm: such as new calves, new lambs, baby chicks, ducklings, kittens.
